Overview

Yes, west to the Khumhu and close to the Tibetan frontier is a wild, isolated high valley the "Rolwaling" that is called simply "the grave" by the indigenous Sherpas giving an account of its location - drifted down between steep snowcapped peaks. One might have listen many mysterious stories passed on about this valley that the legendary and prominent Yeti is supposed to have its abode.

Some factors have kept this splendid valley un spoilt and apart from the ravaging onslaught of trekkers. You'll find the mostly all is relatively arduous to make access there as well as one should be prepared with full logistic support all along the way, because there are not facilities of accommodating everywhere.

Crossing Tashi Lapcha Pass (5,755m / 18,881ft)

You must start out early because during the latter part of the day it is in constant danger of rock falls. The strain and degree of difficulty are constantly rewarded, the magnificence of the omni-present mountains. On the approach to the Tashi Lapcha (5,755m), the northern skyline is constantly dominated by the summit of Mt. Gauri Shankar (7146 m.), for a long time confused with Everest and thought to be the highest mountain in the world. This trek takes you through a demographic cross section of Nepal that can not be sampled on any other trek.

EVEREST - ROLWALING - Climbing the Peaks in this area
